A four-day expedition on foot across Iceland's southern Highlands, approximately 55 km from Landmannalaugar to Þórsmörk, through geothermal ground, rhyolite mountains, black volcanic deserts and glacial valleys. Operated seasonally, late June to early September, subject to trail conditions and Highland access.

Day by day

  1. Day 01

    Landmannalaugar → Hrafntinnusker

    Approx. 12 km. Begin among Landmannalaugar's colourful rhyolite mountains and geothermal ground before climbing into higher terrain towards Hrafntinnusker.

  2. Day 02

    Hrafntinnusker → Álftavatn

    Approx. 12 km. A dramatic transition through open Highland terrain towards the lakes and mountains around Álftavatn.

  3. Day 03

    Álftavatn → Emstrur

    Approx. 16 km. Black volcanic landscapes and vast open terrain as the route continues towards Emstrur.

  4. Day 04

    Emstrur → Þórsmörk

    Approx. 15 km. A gradual descent towards Þórsmörk, where the landscape turns greener and more sheltered.
