Medical Information

Be honest with yourself.

Draft — pending professional review

The content below is placeholder language and must be reviewed and approved by a qualified medical or legal professional before going live, given the nature of the activities (cold-water diving, glacier travel, high-altitude trekking, walking safaris).

General physical demands

Expeditions involve sustained physical activity in remote environments, often in challenging weather. You should be in good general health and comfortable with multiple consecutive days of walking, carrying a day pack, and adapting to changing conditions.

Specific demands vary trip-to-trip — always read the individual expedition page for the fitness level, altitude exposure, and any specialty requirements (e.g. dry-suit dive certification for Silfra).

Health declaration

By booking an expedition, you confirm that:

  • You are in good general health and have no undisclosed medical condition that would make participation unsafe for you or for the group.
  • You have consulted your physician about the activities described on the relevant expedition page if you have any concerns.
  • You will disclose, in writing during booking, any condition, medication, or recent injury that may be relevant.
  • You will notify James in writing if your health changes materially between booking and departure.
  • You carry comprehensive travel and medical insurance covering the activities involved, including emergency evacuation.

Right of refusal

James reserves the right to refuse participation at any point if, in his professional judgement, a traveler's health, fitness, or behaviour presents a risk to themselves or the group. Refunds in such cases are governed by the Terms & Conditions.
